Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide future writers, directors and producers who have the desire and talent to become independent film makers with the resources and training they need to achieve these goals.

What We're All About

When you are tired of stockpiling scripts, rejection letters, and agents, come back to school and film your own film. We offer a full service film school and we offer the training, the equipment, and in some cases, the facilities to complete your independent film projects . We also offer contacts in the industry to help you distribute your finished films. What better way to learn than to do.

Acceptance of independent film makers is growing by leaps and bounds. We provide classes in Screenwriting, Cinematography, Lighting and Sound, Production Management, and the Post Production process.  Feature Film Projects are required for you to produce as part of the curriculum. The projects that you will complete will be your own. We simply provide the resources and the knowledge to complete your projects.

We also offer basic courses in basic courses in the above areas and provide students with opportunities to work on independent film productions.

Facilities and Equipment

Since the purpose of the school is to aid students in making their own independent films, IFI has chosen to limit its facilities.  Other than for lectures, the film locations have been and will continue to serve as the ideal location for classes to meet to fully benefit from the experience.

Lectures are held at the schools headquarters or at other areas made available.  Film shoots will be done on location as determined by the advanced students and their shooting schedule.

The school provides both blimped and non-blimped 16mm motion picture cameras to its advanced students for filming of their projects.  We also provide the necessary lighting and sound equipment for their projects. The school utilizes local editing companies for editing of its students projects.  These facilities are available at rates discounted to the school.

Plans are in the works for a studio equipped with lighting facilities for the 16 and 35mm projects, as well as a rehearsal studio, used also for drama and scripting workshops. 16mm and 35mm facilities, equipment, film stock and processing are also planned in the near future to provide for all the film exercises described in the syllabus. Costs of materials are not included in the tuition fees.  Students are encouraged to raise extra sponsorship to augment any production costs associated with their projects.

The School's library contains a core collection of books but students are encouraged to purchase books of interest to their field of study.
